Defrag Memories - Pompei Porta Nocera
Interactive Model of the funeral enclosure 1J of Porta Nocera necropolis at Pompeii
ABOUT
The archaeological excavation carried out in 2018 by W. Van Andringa, T. Creissen & H. Duday at Porta Nocera, Pompeii, brought to light a new funerary enclosure. During its excavation, a homogeneous layer was unearthed right below the eruptive deposit layers of 79 AD. This stratum revealed several traces of occupation linked to the funerary enclosure.
Here we present the distribution of all discovered fragments between 2018 and 2019 (2368 fragments) as well as the links between fragments belonging to the same objects. The study of this funerary enclosure is still on-going.
This work is a part of a PHD thesis currently being prepared by François Fouriaux under the supervision of Prof. William Van Andringa at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes / University PSL.
